ABOUT US & BLUE LAKE HOUSE

Blue Lake House, a picturesque villa overlooking Castelo de Bode Lake, had its origins in 1986, when it was initially constructed by Mr. Cristovão. This charming residence is situated just above the former village of Castanheira, which, unfortunately, was submerged by the construction of a dam in the 1950s. The creation of the dam significantly altered the landscape, transforming the area into the breathtaking lake we know today.

In 2017, a new chapter in the history of Blue Lake House began when the property changed ownership. As the new owners, we recognised the potential of this unique location and embarked on an ambitious journey of renovation and enhancement. Our vision was to create a space that would offer visitors unforgettable experiences in this lesser-known paradise of Portugal.

With unwavering dedication, the restoration and improvement works were carried out, aiming to preserve the essence of the original structure while introducing modern amenities and comforts. The goal was to provide a haven where guests could immerse themselves in the beauty of nature, find tranquilly, and indulge in various water sports. This vision became a reality, and in 2020, we opened its doors to the world.

Sitting in the heart of the 60-kilometre-long Castelo de Bode Lake, Blue Lake House is perfectly positioned to serve as a launching point for exploring the enchanting region that surrounds this magnificent body of water.
